  • Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate occurs as colorless or white crystals or as a white, crystalline or granular powder. It is hygroscopic. It is very soluble in water, but is insoluble in alcohol. The pH of a 1:100 aqueous solution is about 10.5.

  • Potassium Metaphosphate occurs as a white powder. It is a straight-chain polyphosphate having a high degree of polymerization. It is insoluble in water, but is soluble in dilute solutions of sodium salts.

  • Dimagnesium Phosphate, Dibasic, Trihydrate, occurs as a white, dibasic, crystalline powder. It contains three molecules of water of hydration. It is slightly soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol, but is soluble in dilute acids.

  • Trimagnesium Phosphate, Tribasic, occurs as a white, crystalline powder. It may contain four, five, or eight molecules of water of hydration. It is readily soluble in dilute mineral acids, but is almost insoluble in water.

  • Ferric Pyrophosphate occurs as a tan or yellow-white powder. It is insoluble in water, but is soluble in mineral acids.

  • Ferric Orthophosphate occurs as a yellow-white to buff colored powder. It contains from one to four molecules of water of hydration. It is insoluble in water and in glacial acetic acid, but is soluble in mineral acids.
